Chapter One declares that the Constitution is based on the sovereignty of the people and that all laws must be based on the Constitution
Sovereignty means, Kenya has the political power to control its own affairs.
Influence or interference from outside the nation or state limits sovereignty.
Supremacy of the Constitution means that the Constitutional Provisions are the highest law in Kenya. It is the source of legitimacy for all actions. Any action by legislature, the executive or the judiciary which does not conform with the words and Spirit of the Constitution is not valid.
Every person has a duty to respect and uphold the Constitution.
Any attempt to establish a government otherwise than in the compliance with the Constitution is unlawful
